23rd, July

edit: images flipped

University started back today, and finally after months of waiting I'm allowed to take up drawing as a subject.

In class we had to draw still life pictures of a cow's skull, a plastic pumpkin and a bottle.

We first had to paint pictures in ink with a meter long stick, then we got more detailed by drawing with a post office nib pen.

......

I then drew the other pictures in my sketch book afterwards.

My laptop doesn't have the Internet for some strange reason, meaning that I'm posting the entry from my phone. However I haven't figured out how to put the pictures in order or how to label them either.

Ink test

I bought some new metallic inks from the uni art shop this week and wanted to test them out, so first I used a tissue to smear some of the ink onto some black cardboard, then I created some patterns using masking fluid. After that I added more ink over it in interesting patterns and waited for it to dry. When it was dry I pulled the masking fluid off and it was done

Manga collage

I did a few projects this week. The first was a collage that I made by tearing out manga pages from a 'Shonen Jump' magazine that I got from Japan.

First I chose pages that had interesting images and then cut them out. Then I aligned them on the paper until I was happy with the order, then I glued them down.

I did 3 pages but I glued the edges down so that it looked like the images continued from one to another.

Challenge: Day 4

I didn't have much time today but I still managed to compleate the challenge.  This might count as cheating, but who cares, it's still a drawing... In a way.

Challenge day 4: Favourite Place

"Japanana", Felt tip marker on a banana, 2012
As many would have guessed; my favourite (banana shaped) place is Japan!!!  Thought I should probably draw a propper landscape picture later, since it is one of my weak points.

30 day challenge

I've decided to do the 30 day drawing challenge.  The point of it is to draw one thing from the list for the next 30 days.
For the time being, I'm going to draw sketches, so that I don't feel pressured drawing amazing works everyday and quit.
I think being consistant is the best thing that I need, so that I can train my brain to work harder.

Drawings 14

The following images were drawn on lined paper, because I find carry around a small notebook easier than a big sketch book. It also lets me brain storm better, because it doesn't put as much pressure on me to draw perfectly since the paper isn't professional.

Some of the drawing were real life drawing done in starbucks, but you probably can't tell. I spent my whole life drawing cartoons and manga, that i'm not very good at realistic drawings yet, but don't worry, I'll get better it them soon...
