Long time no see

Hey, long time no see.  A lot of things have happened since my last post, including coming back home from France, and since then I've been trying to get back into my the whole studying/ school routine.

I also don't have drawing classes this year, so unfortunately I won't be posting so much stuff, (not that I don't draw in my free time anymore, but a lot of it is crappy doodles in the margins of my books.)

So because of that I've fallen out of the habit of posting pictures everyday, but i'll try to do it again.

As some of you know from my previous posts, I've been writing a novel, which i'm still doing.  So hopefully I'll have more time to draw after i'm finished with that project.

As for school, I've chosen to do sculpture this semester and my idea so far is to create a music box.

The main body of the box is going to be in the shape of an egg and made out of fiber glass resin, with aluminium details on the outside.  Even though the work is fairly small, it has a lot of components and details, meaning that it's friggin' hard!! o(>.<)o

So far I've made about 20 something wax flowers, which will be cast in aluminium and added to the outside of the box, but I'm not sure how to position the parts until I finish some of the other parts.

So far I've experimented with applying resin to a few balloons, but they are inside the sculpture workshop, so I don't have any pictures of them at the moment.  However, before I started the proper one, I made this egg shape with paper mache on a balloon and numbered all the panels.  Then I cut the panels out and used them as a pattern for the fiber glass mat, which I started gluing today.

You can also see some wax patterns on the practice balloon.  They were also supposed to be part of the outside decorations, but they were too thin to cast, so I've got to remake them with thicker wax.

I also ordered a mechanical music mechanism and made some dancing figures out of wax, which are almost ready to cast.

So, while it may not look like something now,  all the parts are slowly coming together.
